Trauma & PTSD Therapy

Sometimes the hardest part of trauma isn't what happened—it's how long you've had to carry it.

Many people assume trauma should have an expiration date. They wonder why they still feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or on edge long after a difficult experience has ended. Others question whether what they experienced was "bad enough" to still affect them. The reality is that trauma can impact people in different ways, and its effects often linger long after the event itself.

Trauma may result from a single experience, such as an accident, assault, loss, medical event, or other life-threatening situation. It can also develop through ongoing experiences like childhood adversity, unhealthy relationships, chronic stress, emotional neglect, or repeated exposure to difficult circumstances.

The effects of trauma can show up in many ways, including anxiety, panic, irritability, emotional numbness, difficulty trusting others, nightmares, intrusive memories, hypervigilance, relationship struggles, or feeling disconnected from yourself and the people around you. Sometimes the signs are less obvious and appear as perfectionism, people-pleasing, avoidance, self-criticism, or a constant need to stay in control.

At our practice, trauma therapy provides a safe and supportive space to better understand the impact of these experiences, develop healthy coping skills, and begin the process of healing. Therapy is tailored to each individual's needs and may focus on emotional regulation, nervous system awareness, processing difficult experiences, strengthening relationships, and building a greater sense of safety and confidence in everyday life.

Healing is not about forgetting the past. It is about reducing its influence on the present so you can move forward with greater freedom, connection, and resilience.

Whether you are struggling with PTSD, childhood trauma, relationship trauma, grief, or the lasting effects of difficult life experiences, therapy can help you move from surviving to living more fully.
